Web Hosting Geeks

If you’re a frequent visitor to this blog, you may have noticed that this site is inaccessible for few minutes last week. According to the Error and Recovery Alert email I received recently, my site was on time-out error for 17 minutes, 39 seconds.

In my site problem post last February, I mentioned that my site was down for 6 hours. I thought that was the longest time already, but a while ago, I read an old alert email that says my site was on error for 14 hours in 2005. But why is my site not responding for such a long time? The error listed in the email is Time out and Connection Refused.

I learned that a Time Out occurs when the web server’s host computer was found but a connection could not be established within 90 seconds. This usually indicates a problem with your routers or firewall, or a web server hardware failure, or general Internet connectivity problems.

A Connection Refused error occurs when the web server’s host computer is found, but the host computer refuses to accept the connection on the default port. This usually signifies a problem with your web server software or the web server software is not running.

For sure you will be telling me, why on earth are you still in your web host if you’re having troubles with them? Although I’ve been with them since 2003, I can not say I will stick with them forever. That’s why I’m in the look now for a new web host.

But there are oodles of web hosting providers available nowadays. It’s really hard to find web hosting companies that will give you the quality web hosting service you deserve.

A thorough research must be done so you can find which web hosting provider can give you cheap hosting and yet with a very good service. It would be time consuming though to browse from one site to another just to check for each other’s features, bonuses, costumers’ reviews and feedbacks.
