Broken Heart

by: Marie Clark

I’ve had rainy days, and disturbing nights
Feelings so blue, so many, many fights
I looked for the rainbow
Some sembalance of hope in sight
Believing joy came in the morning
Bringing new hope and light

Why can’t you be near me
Why are you not here to hold me in your arms
There’s a storm raging inside me
Why couldn’t you see, you were my world

You claimed that you loved me
But you’ve left me alone
Was I just a fascination
To be used and then sprawned

I believed you when you said you loved me
I took you at your word
I believed you when you said you desired me
All a mistake, as I’ve seen and heard

As a child breaks his playthings
You were so cruel to break my heart
You did not consider my heart was not a toy
Not a plaything to destroy

You know they say, you will reap
Exactly what you sow. So now I’m alone
You will be too, as you continue
On the path you’re on.
